(Cubannewsagency) The document was signed by Panamanian Hugo Moreno, president of the Cuba-Panama Parliamentary Friendship Group, and by Ramon Pez Ferro, president of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament).
During the meeting, participants analyzed accords included in a joint declaration sign in Panama City in December 2009 as well as topics of common interest.
Both sides decided to support an initiative to create the Association of Latin American and Caribbean States as a mechanism for regional integration and they also acknowledged the results of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas (ALBA).
The Panamanian parliamentarians expressed their willingness to increase cooperation in the areas of public health and sports through the training of qualified personnel and the assistance of trainers and technicians.
The Cuban side thanked their Panamanian counterparts for their support of Cuba’s struggle against Washington’s almost 50-year-old economic, financial and trade blockade of the island.
