(InsideCostaRica)The US economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba was on the agenda for discussion Saturday in the Panamanian National Assembly, as part of the links between legislators of the two nations.
Parliamentary deputy Tubal Paez, vice president of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of People´s Power of Cuba (Parliament), explained for his Panamanian counterparts aspects of the resolution that will be discussed next week in the United Nations.
Paez told Prensa Latina that during the meeting, Cuba´s decision to present its arguments about the adverse effects of that criminal U.S. policy was ratified.
He recalled that the blockade, in force for over five decades, is aimed at destroying the constitutional order chosen by Cuba in exercising its right to self-determination.
There is commitment within the Panamanian Assembly´s Foreign Relations Committee to issue a motion supporting Cuba and condemning that US criminal policy, said Paez, who is also president of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC).
Condemnation of the genocidal strategy of the White House has always been present on the agenda of inter-parliamentary meetings between the two countries, the Cuban official said.
On October 26, the UN General Assembly will discuss the resolution The Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.
