(prensa.com) Panama and theĀ United States yesterday signed an agreement that will allow the countries to share information that will help identify passengers who pose a danger to commercial flights.
This agreement is in addition to the tax agreement the two countries are expected to sign in the coming days.
The security agreement will allow Panama to access the database of the U.S. government to find out which travelers have been linked to acts of terrorism and organized crime. The agreement also allows both countriesĀ to exchange information in the field of air transport.
A statementĀ from the U.S. Security Department noted that, since a failed terrorist attack on Dec. 25, 2009, the agency hasĀ worked with the International Civil Aviation Organization to enhance aviation safety. The agreement was signed by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Panama Vice PresidentĀ Juan Carlos Varela.
