(prensa.com) On Nov. 30, officials from the Panamanian government are expected to sign a tax cooperation agreement with the United States, a move that Panama hopes will be a step toward removing it from a list of tax havens.
The treaty will be signed in Washington by Panama Vice President Juan Carlos Varela and Timothy Geithner, U.S. Treasury Secretary.
This will be the 10th such tax agreement signed by Panama. It has to reach agreements with two more countries to meet the guidelines set by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development to remove it from its list of tax havens.
