(NewsroomPanama)Another multi-vehicle crash on the Trans Panama highway near Santiago, killed at least 12 people and seriously injured 16 on Monday afternoon. (October 25).
The dead included a minor and 16 Serious Injuries
According to early reports the accident was caused when the driver of a transport, heading for Cocle, fell asleep at the wheel and crashed head on into the 9B-392 bus traveling from Panama to Santiago.
Two sedans a Mazda 323 and a Sentra were also involved. Preliminary statements from the Tranport Authjority (ATTT) say that the truck first struck a sedan and then careered across to the opposite lane hitting another sedan and the bus.
The last major accident that killed 24, occurred near Pacora when a truck hit a bus and two other vehicles. Last weekend, a memorial service was held for 18 passengers burned to death in a bus at La Cresta, Panama.
