(prensa.com) The 16 foreign medical specialists who were hired by the Ministry of Health to fill vacancies in the interior have been certified by the Council of Health, the ministry reported Friday.
Health Director Edward Lucas López said that the certification was granted after the vacant positions the specialists will fill failed to attract any interest from local candidates.
“Unfortunately, there are not enough physicians to meet the demand in the interior of the country,” he said.
The ministry received 78 applications from foreign doctors, and hired 16. The ministry expects to hire another 60 specialists to fill current vacancies.
