Quijano, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Engineering and Management of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), respectively, are clear that the channel widened further positioned the country in world trade, and also give you the capacity of ACP provide advice worldwide on project management.

“We already have the number one spot as a transhipment port, passing the port Santos in Brazil, but the potential is much larger, is how to capture and add value to that position and that’s what you need to understand,” says Zubieta German , who sees the Panama Canal became the center of logistics, transport and maritime services most important of all the Americas from 2014.

This program will not be the greatest [the world], Quijano emphasizes, but is the largest in Panama and promises better days to the Panamanians. “And the world is a unique, well … it has an impact on the Panamanians and the world, and so are those who use the Panama Canal,” he adds.

Quijano satisfaction goes beyond what he described as the “duty” to expand the channel, “breathe new life” into this business, and involves the participation of Panamanians in this process. “We wanted the Panamanians as part of this new history of this new development, this new product … and in part this has been accomplished. Our engineers designed all the projects except the locks, “he said.
