Where Do All the Diablo Rojos Go?

05/15/2011 By Panama Eric

(Panama Digest) Director of the Transit and Ground Transportation Authority Jorge Ricardo Fabrega told La Critica that 400 Diablo Rojo buses have been removed from circulation and replaced by Metro Buses.

So what will happen to the colorful, smoke-spouting buses, once a Panamanian institution?

He says that some of the old buses have been reassigned to the National Police and others will go to the fire department, the National Border Service and the National Aeronaval Service.  The rest will be sold off as scrap metal.

Profits from the scrap sales would go into a fund to help maintain transportation costs of the new system low.

Diablo Rojo cemeteries can currently be found in Pacora and Howard.
