“A phone call alerted the Emergency Response Department, reporting that nine tourists who had climbed to the top of the volcano, were experiencing health problems, to which we immediately responded by sending staff to the site,” informed Regional Director of SINAPROC, José Donderis.

The official further informed that. Of the nine Panamanian tourists, one presented symptoms of fever and muscle pain, while two turned back and did not finish the ascent to the top of the volcano.

The nine Panamanians were between 18 and 26 years of age. It was reported that all nine are currently in good health.
