President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, began a trip to Asia yesterday, Friday Oct. 15, where he is slated for an official visit to sign double taxation treaties.
According to the State Secretary of Communication, Alfredo Prieto, the President departed on Friday morning on a tour that is expected to last eight days and will include Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan.
This will mark the 25th trip of the high official during his year and three months in office.
“It is the president’s first trip to Asia,” said Vice-President and Chancellor, Juan Carlos Varela, who is also taking part in the tour.
On the agenda, the Panamanian leader has planned a meeting with Singapore’s president SR Nathan and prime minister Lee Hsien Loong.
During his stay in Taiwan, Martinelli will meet with President Ma Ying-jeou. In addition, the president will visit several companies focused on technology development.
