(prensa.com)Flooding in the district of Barú Friday forced more than 100 people to flee their homes.
Those affected by the flooding were housed in hostels in Majagual, Quira, Chuchupate, Corotu and Almendro.
The heavy rains also damaged more than 1,000 hectares of banana trees, said producer Dinorah Taylor.
Authorities have started to fly over the affected areas to determine if anyone has been left stranded by the flooding.
The heavy rains also caused a landslide on the Pan-American Highway near Tolé that blocked traffic on the road.
