(prensa.com)In the coming years, the seafood market in Panama City could lose its strategic location.
The Ministry of Public Works has made relocating the market a part of the plan that will expand the Cinta Costera. Currently, the seafood market is located next to the highway.
A proposal for the expansion of the highway calls for the “construction of a new seafood market.” It does not give a proposed location.
Officials with the Municipality of Panama City, which owns the market, said they were unaware of this initiative, but ensured that they will investigate the issue. The city has invested $150,000 in renovating the building under the administration of current Mayor Bosco Vallarino.
