(prensa.com) The new hospital in Chitré, located in the province of Herrera, which will benefit a population of approximately 300,000 in Los Santos, Veraguas, and part of Coclé, will be opening its doors today, Nov. 16, 2010.
Through a press release, it was reported that the new hospital will be launched in a ceremony by President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, and director of the Social Security Fund, Guillermo Sáez-Llorens.
The hospital, product of a $35 million investment and bearing the name of Dr. Gustavo Nelson Collado, was built to provide surgical care to more than 216,000 users in the region of Azuero.
Moreover, the facility has the capacity for 150 beds, six intensive care beds, two isolation rooms with their corresponding beds, and four rooms in the coronary area to provide inpatient services, surgery, and other medical procedures.
Specialties such as pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, urology, otolaryngology, maxillofacial, internal medicine, and cardiology, as well as 24-hour emergency care are some of the services offered by this new hospital, according to reports.
